Ruth Armontrout

Ruth Athlea Armontrout, 81, formerly of Pryor, passed from this life on Sunday, June 13, 2021. She was born on March 19, 1940 in Pryor, Oklahoma; the daughter of Lee Alvis and Colista (Setters) Alvis. Ruth received her associate degree in accounting and worked for many years as an accountant for Armontrout Plumbing. She then went on to be a foster grandparent at Roosevelt Elementary School where she earned the name “Granny.” Ruth enjoyed gardening, family game nights, and above all, spending time with her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother who leaves behind many wonderful memories for her family to cherish. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Andrew Rehbein officiating. Ruth is survived by her children, Cynthia Armontrout of Pryor, James Armontrout and wife Teresa of Pryor, and Nena Wilson and husband Mike of Kinsley, Kansas; grandchildren, Jeremiah Ramsey and wife Misty of Larned, Kansas, Ross Armontrout and wife Kacey of Pryor, Randi Ramsey of Kinsley, Kansas, Courtney Ballou and husband Terry of Salina, Taylor Armontrout of Pryor, Clayton Armontrout of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Kylie Armountrout of Pryor; and 10 great grandchildren with another on the way. She is preceded in death by her husband, Sidney; her parents, Lee and Colista; brothers, James, Eugene, and Norman; and sisters, Opal, Betty, and Anna.
