Ruth Pickup

Ruth M. Pickup, 75, of Salina, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2012 in Springdale, Arkansas. She was born on August 2, 1936, the daughter of Lee 'Joe' Watermelon and Viola (Turner) Watermelon. Ruth married Reverend Dick Pickup on December 9, 1955 at Salina, Oklahoma. She enjoyed puzzles, playing cards and spending family time. She enjoyed music and could play a variety of musical instruments. Ruth was a lovely lady who leaves many wonderful memories for her family and friends to cherish. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the New Jordan Baptist Church with Reverend Rufus King and Reverend Clifford Loftis, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Grass Cemetery with Phillip Gwartney, Robert Herwaldt Jr., Stuart Pickup, Jared Pickup, Tyler Vann and Daniel Vann serving as casket bearers. A Wake service will be held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will greet family and friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday evening. She is survived by her children, George Pickup of Kansas, OK, Jeannie Vann of Salina, OK and Mary Herwaldt of Springdale, AR; her brother, Clifford Loftis of Wickliffe, OK; her sister, Edna Sultzer of Jay, OK; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Dick Pickup in 1988; one grandson, Buddy Vann.
