Sam Allen, 69, of Spavinaw, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at his home. He was born on February 2, 1947 in Strang, Oklahoma; the son of Jess and Polly (Smith) Allen. Sam faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corps and earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Combat Action Medal, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and many others. He worked most of his life for Mayes County as a Road Grader and heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, fishing and spending time outdoors. He also looked forward to going to the Casino with the Jones'. He loved seeing his grandchildren and spending time with each and every one of them. He leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Sam is survived by his daughters, Shari Allen and husband James Michael Buffalohead of Miami, Oklahoma, Susan Holland and husband Bobby Jack of Joplin, Missouri; and Angela Worley of Canyon, Texas; sister, Beverly Walker of Spavinaw, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Brittanie Williams, Anna Yahola, Kara Danielle Yahola, Jerad Josh Yahola, Candace Worley, and Samantha Buffalohead; great grandchildren; Hagen, Adrian, Amerikiss, Coby, Callie, and Jazzi; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Polly Allen; wife, Lavon Allen; daughter, Shirley "Booge" Allen; and sisters, Rose and Jennie.
