Sammy Lee Stealer

Sammy Lee Stealer, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024, at his home. He was born on December 15, 1958, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Moses Stealer and Eunice (Cochran) Backward. 

Throughout his life, Sammy found joy in simple pleasures and cherished moments spent with his loved ones. He enjoyed visiting the casino and treasured his time outdoors, especially when hunting and fishing. Above all else, he valued the time that was spent with his family. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Moses Stealer and Eunice (Cochran) Backward; his son, Sammy Joe; grandson, Daniel James Everett; aunt, Betty Arthurs; nephew, Dino Kingfisher; brother, Gene Kingfisher; his special mom, Jessi Kingfisher; aunt, Sarah Kingfisher; and uncle, Jack Stealer. 

Sammy is survived by his son, Darren Stealer of Pryor, OK; daughters, Samantha Boney and Owen Nelson, and Jessica McClelland and husband Brandon each of Pryor; brothers, Virgil "Timmy" Stealer and wife Theresa, and Mark Louie Stealer both of Salina, OK; and sisters, Cheryl Backward and Diane Backward of Kansas. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, and other relatives who will continue to cherish his memory.

Funeral services for Sammy will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 26, 2024, at Salina All Nations Church with Reverend Buddy Ross officiating. Interment will follow in the Grass Cemetery in Salina with Rance Kingfisher, Talon Kingfisher, Rodney Sutter, Eddie York, Owen Nelson, and Brandt Beaver serving as casket bearers. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor.
