Sheila Mae Taylor

November 9, 1949 — January 21, 2023

Salina

Sheila Mae Taylor, 73, of Salina, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023 peacefully at home surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born on November 9, 1949 at home in Boatman, Oklahoma; the daughter of Dallas "Babe" and Vera Marjorie (Parker) Plumlee. She married the love of her life, Gene Taylor, on June 16, 1967 at the age of 17 years old. They have celebrated 55 years of marriage. Sheila worked in the home tending to the needs of her family and worked for 20 years as a cook for Salina Public Schools. She loved her work at the school and enjoyed the children she served, as she was lovingly called “Granny” by most of the school children. Sheila loved flowers and had a green thumb.  She loved to work in her vegetable garden and had a special knack for growing tomatoes and saving the plants that needed special attention. She looked forward to working in her yard and mowing. The outdoors is where she truly enjoyed being. She was an animal lover and would take care of sick animals and nurse them back to health. Sheila was a natural caretaker, family or not, she never hesitated in helping those in need and making sure those she loved were well taken care of. She was a hard worker and had grit and always worked towards her goals. She was loving, kind, selfless, and had a servant’s heart. Sheila’s world revolved around her family, attending her grandchildren’s events, and spending any moment she could with them. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend and leaves behind many memories for her family to cherish.
