Sherman Smith

Sherman Lee Smith, 76, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012 at his home in Pryor. He was born on January 23, 1936 in Modesto, California, the son of Roy L. Smith and Della M. (Kerns) Smith. He married Nettie Meadows on July 31, 1965 in Adair, Oklahoma. Sherman worked for many years as the Produce Manager for Safeway Stores. He also worked at Linda's One Stop and Granny's Store for a time. He enjoyed and was a true wood craftsman, working with many types of wood. He made beautiful furniture for their home and for others. He enjoyed and took great pride in his yard making it a beautiful place for family and friends to enjoy. He was a member of the Heritage Southern Baptist Church in Pryor. He was a loving husband, father and friend who will be so very missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 10 a.m. in the Heritage Southern Baptist Church with Reverend Phil Hudson and Reverend Andy Pilant officiating. Interment will follow in the Hogan Cemetery with Kenny Hauenstein, Bryce Hauenstein, Richard Crittenden, Brent Crittenden, Forrest Rogers and Jim Turner serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Bobby Smith, Shane Smith, Stephen Smith, David Smith, Kenny Smith and Donnie Hess. He is survived by his wife, Nettie of the home; his sons, Curtis Smith of Sand Springs, OK and Jeff Smith of Pryor, OK; his brothers, Walt and wife, Bonnie Smith of Pryor, OK, David and wife, Irene Smith of Pryor, OK, Lonnie and wife, Tressa Smith of Pryor, OK, William and wife, Betty Smith of Pryor, OK, Raymond Smith of California; sisters, Angie and husband, Farrell Smith of Pryor, OK and Verna Hess of Pryor, OK; Special Family Friend, Timm Wells; sister and sister and brother-in-laws, Bill and Nita Richardson of Hominy, OK; special family friend, Sheri Buck Shatswell; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Roy and Della Smith; three brothers, Edward, Donald and Jessie Smith; one sister, Peggy Smith.
