Shirley Jean Allen, 87, of Pineville, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at her home. She was born on March 6, 1935 in Independence, Missouri; the daughter of Alvah and Mary Irene (Kerner) Wait. Shirley started her first job at Sears in Kansas City and from there worked in transcription at Grand Valley Hospital and as a cashier at Walmart for many years. She was very creative and taught cooking and knitting and enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo. Shirley also looked forward to going square dancing, bowling, and watching Me Tv. She loved her grandchildren and she enjoyed running them around to their various sporting events. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend and leaves behind many memories for her family to cherish.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Mann of Pineville, Missouri; brother, Alvah Wait, Jr. of Independence, Missouri; grandchildren, Robert Fuller of Pryor, Oklahoma, Renee Fuller of Pryor, Oklahoma; and Rebecca and husband Jason Peacock of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; 7 great grandchildren, Devon, Serenity, Ryleih, Reawna, Boo, Rollyn, and Romeo; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alvah and Irene Wait; first husband, James Tatom; second husband, Gary Allen; granddaughter in law, Melissa Fuller; sister-in-law, Marilyn Wait; and niece Toni Wait.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2022 at Shipman’s Funeral Home in Pryor with Reverend Jerold Pilant officiating. Burial will follow in the Graham Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Shipman’s Funeral Home in Pryor.
