Shirley Butcher

Shirley Ann Butcher, 84, of Pryor, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016 in Pryor, Oklahoma. She was born on June 28, 1931 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio; the daughter of Clyde and Mary (Hardesty) Hoagland. Shirley married her childhood sweetheart, Lowell Butcher on August 5, 1950 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. She worked as a bank teller most of her life and was the assistant director of the Pryor Ministries Center. Shirley was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was active in the women's group. She enjoyed cooking and reading, working in her garden and bird watching. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she looked forward to spending time with her family and enjoyed each moment she had with them. She leaves behind many wonderful memories, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, June 1, 2016 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Beattie officiating. Burial will be in the Graham Memorial Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Pryor Ministries Center. Shirley is survived by her husband, Lowell Butcher of the home; daughter, Connie Desai and husband Ron of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Cara Jo Desai and husband Devon Bouvier of Austin, Texas and Alex Desai of Tulsa, Oklahoma; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Mary Hoagland.
