Shirley Smith

August 23, 1931 — September 8, 2019

Shirley Marie Smith, 88, of Owasso, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019 in Tulsa. She was born on August 23, 1931 in Turkey, Texas; the daughter of Clarence Buster and Ida Marie (Tillery) Nobles. She married Samuel B. Smith on January 14, 1951 in Childress, Texas. Shirley worked most of her life as the School Secretary for Catoosa Public Schools. She loved going to church and helping anyone she could. Shirley looked forward to anytime she could spend with her family and enjoyed each moment she had with them.  She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 12, 2019 in the Woodcrest Church in Catoosa, Oklahoma with Pastor Roger Ballard officiating. Burial will be held in the Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Shipman’s Funeral Home. Shirley is survived by her son, Clarence Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter, Susan Nightingale and husband Linn of Mounds, Oklahoma; brother, Pat Nobles of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren, Noah Sanco, Sarah Sherman, and Emily Stewart; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ida Nobles and husband, Samuel Smith.
