Sondra McKenzie

Sondra Kay McKenzie, 65, of Pryor, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2014 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on February 19, 1949 in Bentonville, Arkansas; the daughter of Thomas and Frances Wright. Sondra worked at the Whitaker State Home and then as a Home Health Aid for many years. She enjoyed quilting and cross stitching, and working crossword puzzles. Above all, Sondra looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren. She cherished each moment she had to spend with them. She will be remembered for all the wonderful memories she leaves behind and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2014 in the Pleasant View Baptist Church with Reverend Jerold Pilant officiating. Interment will be in the Lone Chapel Cemetery with Trevon Helmuth, Thomas Maslen, Roy Shoop, and Johnny Nixon serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 15, 2014 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. She is survived by her husband, David McKenzie of the home; son, Shane and wife Mandy Mckenzie of Adair, Oklahoma; daughters, Georgiana and husband Mark Myers of Pawhuska, Oklahoma and Amy and husband Cody Welch of Pryor, Oklahoma; sisters, Debbie and husband Tim Nichols of Owensboro, Kentucky, Cheryl and husband Eddie Mills of Waverly, Kentucky, and Martha and husband Gary of Stanley, Kentucky; 4 grandchildren, Mark Myers III, Cole McKenzie, Nicholas Welch and Ceirra Welch. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Frances Wright.
