Steve Anna True, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, in Claremore, Oklahoma, at the age of 82. Born on June 28, 1942, in Pryor, Oklahoma, she dedicated her life to the care of others, demonstrating immense love and commitment throughout her years.
Steve Anna was a guiding light for her family, stepping into a maternal role for her siblings following the passing of their mother during her youth. This innate nurturing spirit carried on throughout her life as she welcomed numerous family members into her home, always ensuring that they felt loved and supported.
Her adventurous spirit shone through her love of travel, often sparked by the gentle persuasion of her husband, Lewis Wayne True, to leave their ranch. This soon blossomed into a shared passion, where she took the reins in planning trips across the country, drawing inspiration from experiences that pushed her outside of her comfort zone. Together, they cultivated a remarkable relationship, having married when she was just 17 and Lewis was 20. Their 65 years of marriage were marked by a profound bond, filled with mutual love and unwavering commitment.
Steve Anna also left a lasting impact in the professional realm. In the 1960s, she emerged as a pioneer for women in the workforce alongside her sister, beginning their careers at Sears and Sun Oil. Her dedication to the Pryor community was evident during her years at the employment office, where she helped countless individuals find their place in the job market. She later transitioned to serve as an administrative assistant in human resources, a role she held until her retirement at the age of 62.
An avid communicator, Steve Anna found joy in sending emojis to her family, creatively expressing her thoughts and love. She also cherished her time quilting, honing her skills to become a master quilter. Her creations garnered several blue-ribbon awards at various shows, reflecting her talent and dedication.
Steve Anna is survived by her husband, Lewis Wayne True, of the home; her children, Kimbereley Iris Goldstein and Bobby of Dallas, TX, Gregory Wayne True and Maria of Arlington, TX, and Steven M. True and Philip Pink of Dallas, TX; her grandchildren, Derrick Vaughan Risner, Kyle Lewis Risner, Brittney Iris True, and Bradly Wayne True; and her siblings, Gary Gregory of Strang, OK, Cindy Briggs of Pryor, OK and Debra Johnson of Pawhuska, OK.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 5, 2025, in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor with Pastor Jerold Pilant officiating. Interment will follow at the Graham Memorial Cemetery in Pryor. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 4, 2025, at Shipman's Funeral Home.
