Sylvia Charleen (Anderson) Holbert, 87, of Sand Springs, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 in Tulsa. She was born on November 22, 1929, six miles south of Stigler, Oklahoma; the daughter of Joe and Alma (Johnson) Anderson. She was raised in the area and graduated from Stigler High School. She met the love of her life, Leonard Holbert, and were married on December 18, 1948, and lived 62 wonderful years together, until his passing in 2011. She enjoyed traveling with her husband in their motorhome and seeing new scenery, especially when it came to being in the mountains or the ocean, she loved to feel the sand between her toes. Charleen was very active and enjoyed water skiing, and walking in the outdoors, going to gospel and country concerts, and working on the computer. She also enjoyed sewing, and when her daughter was at home, Charleen would make all her dresses for her. She worked at Grand Valley Hospital for many years, working as the personnel director. She was very involved with her church, Fisher Baptist Church in Sand Springs, and worked in volunteer services there at the church. She looked forward to spending time with her family, especially when everyone could get together for Christmas and other gatherings. She leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor with Reverend Danny Lychard officiating. Burial will follow in the Graham Memorial Cemetery in Pryor. Visitation will be held on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. She is survived by her son, Michael Holbert and wife Sandy of Rose, Oklahoma; daughter, Myrna King and husband Don of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren, Malissa Flint, Sheri Holbert, Jonathan Holbert, and Steven Covert and wife Denise; 5 great grandchildren, Khia, Hadyn, Alec, Cora, and Ella; sister, Roena (Eastom) Keith and husband John of Pryor, Okahoma; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Alma Anderson, husband, Leonard Holbert, and brother, Gus Anderson.
