Tammie Malissa Halbach

November 27, 1971 — October 13, 2024

Salina

Tammie Malissa Halbach, 52, a cherished member of the Salina community, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, learning, and kindness. Her gentle spirit and compassionate heart touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. For more than ten years, Tammie served as the Director of the Salina Public Library, where her passion for books and education flourished. She especially enjoyed planning events for children, finding joy in nurturing young minds and fostering a love of reading. Her dedication to the library created a welcoming space for learning and connection within the community she held so dear. Faith played a guiding role in Tammie’s life. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Salina, where she devoted her time to the AWANA children’s ministry and vacation bible school. She enjoyed her Sunday School Class and friends. Tammie’s quiet leadership and unwavering kindness were a source of comfort and inspiration to many, especially the young ones she guided. Her true happiness, however, was found in the simple moments spent with her family. She was especially proud of her sons, who both currently serve in the military. Tammie treasured every opportunity to be with her children and grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Whether reading a book to a grandchild, preparing a meal to share, or simply enjoying a conversation, Tammie found meaning in the connections she cultivated with those she loved. Tammie’s memory will remain a source of comfort and joy to those who loved her, and her legacy of kindness and faith will endure in the lives she touched.

Tammie is survived by her sons, Branden Halbach of Salina, Oklahoma and Kyle Halbach and wife, Ariana of Colorado Springs, Colorado; mother, Linda Doak and husband Terry Doak of Salina, Oklahoma; stepsisters, Jennifer Powell and husband Erik of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Beth Riley and husband Paul of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren, Anastasia Halbach, Lily Halbach, and Liam Jeffries; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Terry Halbach; brother, Terry Halbach Jr.; and stepsister, Patricia McCoy.
