Tena Russell

Tena Wanell Russell, 81, of Spavinaw, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 in Grove, Oklahoma. She was born on August 20, 1934 in Atoka, Oklahoma; the daughter of James M. and Lucy Mae (Atterberry) Stowers. Tena married Kenneth Russell on August 11, 1951 in Atoka, Oklahoma and would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year. She was a charter member of the Spavinaw First Baptist Church and enjoyed attending church services and activities. Tena looked forward to bird watching; especially when it came to her bluebirds. She had many bird houses in her yard and she enjoyed going out to check on them and tending to her flowerbeds. She and Kenneth raised registered limousin cattle and were very involved in the limousin association. She looked forward to spending time with her family and hosting family gatherings, even when their house became too small to hold everyone, she would still find a way to bring the family together and have holidays at home. She leaves behind so many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 31, 2016 in the Spavinaw - Strang Cemetery with Brother Harley Sarten officiating. Tena is survived by her husband, Kenneth of the home; sons, Marty Russell and wife Lynette of Spavinaw, Oklahoma and Dusty Russell and wife Robin of Langley, Oklahoma; daughters, Debbie Morrow and husband Rick of Topsy, Oklahoma and Keko Webb and husband Jesse of Zena, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; one lifetime special friend, Diane Paul of Strang, Oklahoma; and many other relatives and friends.
