Terry Hughes

Terry Victor Hughes was born on November 28, 1953 in Hugo, Oklahoma to Charles Victor and Alta Mae Hyde. He moved to Chouteau at age 3 where he graduated from Chouteau High School in 1972.  Terry married Rose Marie Sorenson on November 24, 1979 in Manti, Utah. After the wedding he brought her to Oklahoma where they spent their life together. Terry, a man of many thoughts and a few words, departed this life on December 26, 2018 at the age of 65 years and 28 days in Tulsa, Ok.  He was a feller who loved OU Football, deer hunting, fishing, classic country music and mostly his family.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the Shipman’s Funeral Chapel with Elder Ronnie Shaver officiating.  Interment will follow in the Chouteau West Cemetery in Chouteau, Oklahoma. Terry was survived by Rose, wife of 39 years, of the home. Daughter Melissa Mae Lopez and husband Cruz of Fresno, CA. Daughter Melody Sorenson of Pryor, OK.  Kelly Craine and husband Chris of Chouteau, OK. Bonus son Chance Alred and wife Lori of Okay, OK. 11 grandchildren, Payton, Cedi Mae, Cayden, Trenten, Brady, Jaxsen, Pistol, Jaycee, Trezden, Kinlee, Skylyn and 2 bonus granddaughters Addison and Kodie.

He was also survived by his brother Leon Hughes of Claremore, OK.  Sister Ethma Suggs of Chouteau, OK. Brother Jim Hughes and wife Treva of Cheyenne, OK. Brother John Poe of Pryor, OK.  Sister Virginia Hughes of Cherokee, KS. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Poe, brother Sam Hughes, sister Martha Hughes.
