Thelma Faye Brown, 94, of Pryor, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 in Miami, Oklahoma. She was born on November 9, 1926 in Hiwasse, Arkansas; the daughter of Elmer and Winnie Duncan. She married Curtis Brown in June of 1950 and they celebrated 34 years together before his passing in 1984. Thelma worked for many years in the cafeteria for Pryor High School and Jefferson Elementary. She was a member of the Pryor First Church of God and spent many hours volunteering and helping with funeral meals, Vacation Bible School, and many other events the church held throughout the years. Thelma was a wonderful cook, loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing piano and looked forward to traveling in her younger days. She leaves behind many wonderful memories for her family to remember.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2020 in the First Church of God in Pryor with Reverend Andrew Rehbein officiating. Burial will follow in the Graham Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 14, 2020 at Shipman’s Funeral Home. Thelma is survived by her son, Gary Brown and wife Janine of Anderson, Missouri; daughter, Eva Smith and husband Loyd of Pryor, Oklahoma; brother, Chelmar Duncan and wife Mary of Texas; 5 grandchildren, Angela Reece, Travis Brown, Rachel Bailey, Abby Smith, and Kendra McGowan; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Winnie Duncan; husband, Curtis Brown; and 16 siblings.
