Thomas (Tom) H. Day, 72, of Pryor, OK, was called home to be with Jesus on Thursday, May 17, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born on September 13, 1945 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Leo Day and Edith (Enlow) Day. He was raised in Locust Grove and graduated high school in 1963. His high school years were filled with the love of hunting, fishing, and most of all, the love of playing football. He married Velma Thomas on February 1, 1964 and they moved to Tulsa, where he attended and graduated from Tulsa University in 1970. They moved to Bartlesville, OK, where he worked for Phillips Petroleum. In 1992, they moved to the Houston area, where he continued to work for Phillips until he retired in 2000. Tom was faithful to God, serving as a Sunday school teacher for many years in the Bartlesville Church of the Nazarene, the Clear Lake Church of the Nazarene in Texas and First Church of God in Pryor, OK. He loved his family immensely, caring for them while always setting the example of a Christ - centered life. Anyone who met him knew that he was a man of great faith and love for the Lord.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Velma Thomas Day, along with two daughters, Kimberly Nathan of Friendswood, Texas, Denise Adams and husband Spencer of Tulsa,
OK; grandchildren, Brent Hayden, Cassandra Davis and husband Andrew, Jaci Adams and Maci Branstetter; great grandchildren, Mason Branstetter and Blake Davis; one sister, Louise Markham and husband Wade of Vinita, OK; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Day, sister, Wanda Peppler, nephew, Brad Day, and a great niece Amber Day.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 21, 2018 at the First Church of God in Pryor with Reverend Andrew Rehbein officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel.
