Thomas Richard Reed, 84, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed this life on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at his home. He was born on August 11, 1938, in Arlington, California, the son of Samuel Andrew Reed and Hope Ansley (Dumas) Reed. Rick faithfully served in the United States Air Force. He loved his Country and was very proud of his service to it. He never passed a flag that he did not salute out of great respect for it and what it stood for. He was fortunate to have married the love of his life twice. His first marriage at the age of 24 was to Gracie Mae (Kelly) Reed, and he instantly embraced becoming father to her five children. They added two more children to their family and were married for 30 years until her death in 1992. He married Debby (Kirk) Reed on April 5, 2008. They combined their families and enjoyed life together until his passing. Rick was a loving and generous man and the father to all his extended family that any child would love to have in their lives. He was a person everyone liked as soon as they met him. Racing foreign stock cars, restoring cars, being a part of a car club, and watching NASCAR were all activities he enjoyed. He drove three of his grandchildren to the prom in his yellow 1947 Chevy coupe while wearing a chauffer’s hat and acting the part. Rick was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who leaves many cherished memories for all who knew and loved him.
Rick is survived by his wife, Debby Reed of the home; his daughters, Sherry and husband, Harry Barbour of Bixby, OK, and Kelly and husband, Steve Raney of Wagoner, OK; his sons, Michael and wife, Froyre Reed of Owasso, OK; Danny and wife, Judy McCurley of Tahlequah, OK, and Kirk and wife, Ashley Lyons of Pryor, OK; brother, Samuel Andrew Reed of Moreno Valley, CA; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren all very much loved by their grandfather; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Hope Reed; his first wife, Gracie Mae Reed; two daughters, Maxine Myers and Carol Cameron; two sons, Paul James McCurley Jr. and Dwayne Edward McCurley.
