Tonya Pigeon - Buffington

Tonya Pigeon-Buffington, 54, of Kenwood, went to her heavenly home on Monday, August 9, 2021 in Joplin, Missouri. She was born on August 18,1966 in Claremore, Oklahoma; the daughter of Billy Joe and Roberta Sapp (Pigeon). Tonya was a member of Euwasha Baptist Church and enjoyed going to church activities and spending time with her church family. She also loved to spend time with her family, being at the creek, watching OU, and fishing. Ton loved to babysit, being around her nieces and nephews, and cooking. She was known for making the best potato salad and was always asked to make it for all the family dinners. She loved people and was a friend and loving to all, always doing something for others and never expecting anything in return. A daughter, sister, and aunt, she was a blessing to all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind many memories for all to cherish and she will be dearly missed.

Funeral services for Tonya will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Euwasha Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m., in Kenwood with Richard Budder, Eric Smith, and Guy Soldier officiating. Burial will be in the Euwasha Cemetery with Rowdy Jordan, Aaron Hopton, Emerson Buffington, Terry Buffington, David McFadden, and Jaren McFadden serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Gavin Aguirre, Adrian Aguirre, Briar Standingdeer, Dason Bryant, Chance Bryant, Sonny Buffington, Kyler Hair, and Curtis Dry. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 12, 2021 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. She is survived by her significant other, Nathan "Nate" Guess of Oakhill, Oklahoma; her parents Roberta and Billy Joe Sapp of Salina, Oklahoma; her sisters, Tina Snell and husband Jerome of Rose, Oklahoma and Christie Jordan of Salina, Oklahoma; her nieces, Talia Lewis of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Christina Ahrens of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Caitlin Snell of Rose, Oklahoma, Erin Jordan of Salina, Oklahoma, Casey Collyge of Westville, Oklahoma, and Jessi Brown of Salina, Oklahoma; her nephew, Rowdy Jordan of Salina, Oklahoma; her step-daughters, Breanna Guess of Leach, Oklahoma, and Nina Blackbear of Pryor, Oklahoma and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Buffington; her grandparents, Claude and Helen Louise Dry, and Woodward Hair; and her great grandparents, Willie and Nancy Pigeon.
