Troy Kerns

Troy Dean Kerns, 74, of Salina, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on February 26, 1943 in Bull Hollow, Oklahoma, the son of Roy and Gladys (Chancellor) Kerns. He served in the Oklahoma National Guard. Troy worked as a road foreman and retired from Mayes County. Troy loved being outdoors, especially when he was team roping with his buddies. He loved his family and especially those grandkids. He and his long-time love, Chiquita Burchett spent many wonderful times together. He leaves so many special memories for his family and friends to cherish.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 20, 2017 in the Blue Springs Church in Salina, Oklahoma with Reverend Lorne Beck officiating. Interment will follow in the Ross Mayes Cemetery with his grandsons, Logan Kerns, Cullen Patterson, Chisholm Rice, Matt Cooper, Jonathan Cooper and Talen Daily serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are his roping partners and his hunting buddies. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, November 19, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Troy is survived by his long-time love, Chiquita Burchett of the home; his children, Todd Kerns of Pryor, OK, and Dee Lynn Patterson and husband, Len of Salina, OK; step children, Charles Cooper of Owasso, OK, Brandi Soule and husband Drew of Ark City, KS, Cindy Anderson and husband Nels of Gilbert, AZ; brother, Jerry Kerns of Salina, OK; sister, Judy and husband Cloyd Parrish of Verdigris, OK; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Gladys (Chancellor) Kerns; one brother, Marvin Kerns.
