Tuxie Peoples, 71, of Locust Grove, passed away on April 7, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on July 15, 1943 in Locust Grove, Oklahoma; the son of William and Hester (Watkins) Peoples. Tuxie faithfully served his country in the United States Navy, serving in Vietnam. Tuxie served on the naval ship USS Oriskany. He worked as a boiler maker most of his life, working for the Union #592. He was a proud 32 degree Master Mason in the Covey Lodge #460. He served as Grand Master of the Covey Lodge seven times. Tuxie looked forward to spending time outdoors, especially when he was going fishing or riding his fourwheeler. He leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 10, 2015 in the First Freewill Baptist Church in Locust Grove with Reverend Blake Cook officiating. Interment will be in the Ballou Cemetery with Mike Witt, Chad Hibbs, Jimmy Reid, Jr., Chris Edison, Dan Kelley, and Steven Rowland serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Jerry Langerd and Billy Kelley. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 9, 2015 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor. He is survived by his sons, Billie and wife Tricia Peoples of Pryor, Oklahoma and Tuxie and wife Melinda Peoples of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; daughters, Sherri Kuhnel and husband Erich of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Teresa Reid and husband Jimmy of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Bless Cook and husband Chad of Locust Grove, Oklahoma and Connie Cody and husband Harry of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters, Eva Mae Oxford and husband George of Peggs, Oklahoma and Sue Fine and husband Henry of Peggs, Oklahoma; 18 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and one on the way. He is preceded by his wife, Sandra (Peters) Peoples, his parents, William and Hester Peoples, sister, Annabelle Rice and brother, Hollis Peoples.
