Velda Maxcine Dennis, 82, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2014 in Pryor. She was born on April 10, 1932 in Mayes County, Oklahoma, the daughter of Elmer Pilant and Polly (Howell) Pilant. She married Truman Dennis on June 4, 1957 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Velda was a member of the Pryor Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading her Bible until her eye sight failed. She was a faithful wife and loving sister. Velda was a woman of faith who loved her Lord and His church. When people have spoken of her, they first say what a woman of faith and devoted Christian lady she was in every part of her life. What a legacy to leave. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the Pleasant View Baptist Church with Reverend Jerold Pilant officiating. Interment will follow in the Hogan Cemetery with Leon Pilant, Bob Pilant, Richard Pilant, Dan Jarrett, Denny Pilant and Greg Milligan serving as casket bearers. She is survived by her brothers, James Leon Pilant and wife, Sharon of Salina, OK, Bob Pilant and wife, Sue of Independence, MO, Richard Pilant and wife, Kathy of Artesia, NM, Jerold Pilant and wife, Linda of Pryor, OK; sisters, Ruby Haley and husband, Ron of Chouteau, OK, Velma Echols of Denver, CO, Wanda Milligan and husband, Roland of Shell Knob, MO; close friend, Barbara Lundstrom of Pryor, OK; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman Dennis; her parents; Elmer and Polly Pilant; two brothers, Harold and Billy Pilant; one sister, Lavaughn Driscoll.
