Vera Louise Smith, 92, of Chouteau, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018 at her home. She was born on October 11, 1926 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas; the daughter of Jeff and Sleta (Manning) Lawson. Vera worked as a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed sewing. She also enjoyed birdwatching and watching Wheel of Fortune and The Price Is Right. Vera looked forward to visiting with her friends and family and talking on the telephone. She was a wonderful cook for restaurants in the area and worked as a home health aide for many area people, and also worked at Whitaker State Home. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., September 21, 2018 in the Chouteau North Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 20, 2018 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel. Vera was survived by his son, Billy Garrison and wife Michele of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter, Peggy Crouse of Kansas; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Sleta Lawson, husbands, Haskell Garrison and Loyd Smith; daughter, Judy Garrison; twin daughters, Marilyn Crisp and Sharilyn Fuller; grandchildren, Misty Crisp, Rodney Crisp, and Billy Padgett, and an infant granddaughter.
