Vera Holloway

Vera Marie Holloway, 96, of Pryor, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017 in Pryor. She was born on September 20, 1920 in Dora, Missouri; the daughter of Albert Sterling and Zellah Pearl (Carney) Routh. She has lived in the area since 1972, coming from Detroit, Michigan. Vera married Ernest Holloway on October 30, 1942 in Springfield, Missouri. She worked at Wal-Mart, starting in the Gardening Department, and eventually retired from there. She enjoyed gardening, especially when it came to her tomatoes. She looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren, and helped take care of them when they were younger. Vera was of the Presbyterian faith and attended the First Christian Presbyterian Church in Pryor. She leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, January 20, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Nancy Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in the Ross - Mayes Cemetery with, Brandon LaValley, Sean LaValley, Joey Smith, Austin Hamby, Greg Whitlock and Gary Baker serving as casket bearers and Richard Milius serving as honorary casket bearer. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 19, 2017 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Vera is survived by her daughters, Barbara Insco and husband Terre of San Antonio, Texas and Kathryn LaValley Milius and husband Richard of Pryor, Oklahoma; sister, Doris Bledsoe of Chula Vista, California; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Zellah Routh; husband, Ernest Holloway; daughter, Patricia Holloway and son, David Holloway.
