W. David Sexton, 70, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 in Pryor. He was born on December 17, 1941 in Huntington, West Virginia, the son of Willie James Sexton and Caroline (Dillman) Sexton. He faithfully served his Country in the United States Navy. David married Linda Wilcox on September 28, 1963 in Huntington, West Virginia. David worked as a newspaper printer for The Herald Dispatch and The Wall Street Journal. He and Linda moved here from Ohio 25 years ago making Pryor their home. David was a devout Christian, teaching Sunday school and publishing the church newsletter for his church, Heritage Southern Baptist Church in Pryor. He enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. David was a talented painter. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. A Godly man who dearly loved his Lord, his Country, his family and his many friends. He will be greatly missed. Funeral Services for David will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012 in the Heritage Southern Baptist Church in Pryor with Reverend Phil Hudson officiating. Interment will follow in the Graham Memorial Cemetery with Milton Brown, Joe Bacon, Jim Arrowsmith, John Williamson, Jim Turner and Richard Bradshaw serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Allen Wilcox, Coy West, Steve Davis, Dick Gregory and Scott Blackwell. The family asks memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the Leukemia Society in his memory. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2012 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Friday, April 6, 2012 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. To leave a personal message to his family, please see his web memorial at www.shipmansfuneralhome.com. He is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; his son, Timothy David and wife, Kelly Sexton of Oceanside, CA; his daughter, Beth Anne, and husband, John Wight of Edmond, OK; one brother, Richard Lee and wife, Vida Sexton of Huntington, WV; one sister, Mary J. Brown of Ohio; three grandsons and one great grandson; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Caroline Sexton and a baby sister.
