William "Bill" George Estes Jr., a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, passed away on October 8, 2023, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. He was born on June 4, 1952, in Quantico, Virginia. Bill was a remarkable individual who made a lasting impact on those around him through his dedication to law enforcement and his unwavering love for his family.
Bill's career spanned several decades and was marked by hard work and commitment. He began his professional journey as a truck driver before transitioning into the field of law enforcement. He served as a Mayes County Deputy and then as a Locust Grove police officer. His passion for protecting and serving others led him to become a dedicated paramedic for many years until his retirement in 2021.
Outside of his professional life, Bill had a creative side that he eagerly pursued. He found joy in carpentry and took pleasure in crafting beautiful wooden creations.
After relocating to Mayes County from Missouri four decades ago, Bill quickly became an integral part of the community. He touched many lives through acts of kindness and genuine care for others. It was evident that he approached every interaction with empathy and understanding.
Bill will forever be remembered for the love and devotion he held for his family. He shared countless memorable moments with his beloved wife Sandi Estes of the home. In addition to Sandi, Bill leaves behind a son, Toby Estes, and daughter-in-law Keeley, as well as stepson Kenneth Guynn and stepdaughter Kelli Guynn-Crawford. Bill was a cherished brother. He is survived by his brothers Rod Ward and Scott Enslow and sisters Carol Richard, Sherry Jenson, Barbara Vickers, and Barbara Majors. Although his passing leaves a void in their lives, they will forever be grateful for the memories they shared with him.
Bill's legacy extends to his seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who brought immeasurable joy to his life. He treasured every moment spent with them and leaves behind a lasting imprint on their hearts.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William Estes Sr. and Esther (Ausmus) Messersmith, sister Rita Lacy, and brother David Samonds.
