William Dan Coon, 93, of Salina, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at his home. He was born on September 13, 1926 in Salina; the son of Lee Henry and Nanna McNair (Downing) Coon. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army from 1946 until 1948 and worked as a Utility Repairman within the military. After being honorably discharged, he went to work in the oil and gas industry in operations. William enjoyed watching football, especially when the New England Patriots or OU Sooners were playing. He also enjoyed being outdoors, going fishing with grandkids, and mowing the field. He loved to work with his hands and in his younger years, enjoyed tinkering with cars and also enjoyed anything to do with planes. William loved to spend time with his family and spend time with his 3 grandchildren. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 23, 2020 in the Rose Cemetery in Rose, Oklahoma. Come and go visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m, Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Shipman’s Funeral Home. William is survived by his sons, William Mark Coon and wife Marianne Ballou of Salina, Oklahoma and Randall Coon and wife Sherri of Salina, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Dylan Coon, Sierra Coon, and Alexis Coon; sister, Wanda Bedingfield of Tulsa, Oklahoma; many nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Nanna Coon; and 6 siblings, David Coon, Morris Coon, Jack Coon, Margaret Coon, Dorothy Lee, and Betty Collins.
