William Olson's Funeral Service
William Edward Olson, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on December 19, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on May 10, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri, he led a life rich in experiences that shaped the hearts of many.
A dedicated academic, William received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Missouri School of Mines in 1962, laying a strong foundation for a career marked by innovation and achievement. Throughout his life, he demonstrated an unwavering passion for the great outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, he particularly enjoyed trout fishing.
William and his wife, Donna Olson, shared a unique venture as they operated a Christmas Tree farm in Pryor for many years, a testament to their love for farming and the beauty of tradition. He was also an enthusiastic boat racer, traveling extensively to take part in competitions and securing numerous trophies in recognition of his skill and dedication. His love for animals was profound, illustrating his gentle and compassionate nature.
In addition to his many hobbies, William had a profound admiration for music, particularly the works of Johnny Cash, even having the distinct pleasure of meeting the legend himself. This passion for music intertwined with his love for motorcycles, adding vibrant layers to his character.
William is survived by his wife, Donna Olson of the home; daughters, Karen Powers and husband Mike of Owasso, OK, and Kathy O'Bannon and husband David of Claremore, OK; son, John Olson and wife Donna of Cleveland, GA; grandchildren, Sarah Olson, Tiara Olson, Alana Olson, Katelyn O'Bannon, and Emily Powers; and great granddaughter, Sunny Savage.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Ruby (Crews) Olson, and Alice McKinney; brother, Bob Olson; and sister, Maureen Fitzgerald.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 27, 2024, at Shipman's Funeral Home in Pryor. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Shipman's Funeral Home with Reverend Andrew Rehbein officiating. Interment will follow in the Graham Memorial Cemetery with Jackson Savage, David O'Bannon, Mike Powers, and John Olson serving as casket bearers.
