William Sloan

William Vaughn Sloan, 64, of Pryor, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013 in Pryor, Oklahoma. He was born on April 13, 1949, the son of Charles and Annabelle (Skouse) Sloan in Vinita, Oklahoma. William graduated from Big Cabin High School, where everyone knew him as "Billy." He served in the United States Army during Vietnam and later was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He married Nancy Smith on October 12, 1972 in Miami, Oklahoma. William retired from Solae in 2011 and enjoyed going to breakfast club with his other retired work-mates. They called their club, "the Romeo", which meant, "Retired Old Men Eating Out." William had a great sense of humor and loved to make everyone around him laugh. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, and especially his grandchildren. William also loved to go fishing and golfing. He will be remembered for all the wonderful memories left behind and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services for William will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 30, 2013 in the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Vinita, Oklahoma with Reverend Jim Bradford officiating. Interment will be in the Big Cabin Cemetery with David Leach, Allen Ragsdale, Allen McAnally, Tom Sweeney, David Harrison, Jason Hudson, Michael Avery, and Dwain Mulsow serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 in the Shipman's Funeral Home chapel in Pryor. William is survived by his wife, Nancy sloan, of the home; 2 daughters, Kamisha Jacobson of Pryor, Oklahoma and Julie and husband Travis Thomas of Pryor, Oklahoma; 1 brother, Charles Sloan of Kansas City, Kansas; 3 sisters, Cherilyn and husband Robert Chase of Big Cabin, Oklahoma, Judy and Husband Kenneth Hawkinson of Kansas City, Kansas, and Nancy and husband Roland Kendall of Claremore, Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren, Eddie, Echo, Aubrey, Elle, Evan, and Carli; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Annabelle Sloan; and 2 brothers, Michael Sloan and Donald Sloan.
