Yvonne Powers

Yvonne Sue Powers, 86, of Pryor, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, in Pryor, Oklahoma. She was born on July 26, 1935, in Hartville, Missouri; the daughter of Henry Fritz and Helen (Stigall) Fritz. Yvonne married Frank “Myrl” Powers on September 5, 1952, in Barnsdall, Oklahoma and had celebrated 65 years of marriage before his passing in 2018. She assisted her husband in ministry for 25 years followed by a career with the State of Oklahoma Employment Office. Yvonne was very active in church and was a founding member of the Inola Christian Church. Yvonne was also active in her community and was a volunteer member of the Hillcrest Pryor Hospital Auxillary Volunteer. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed each moment she had with them. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, in the Inola Christian Church in Inola, Oklahoma with Steve Cable and Jim Page officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnsdall Cemetery with Chad Martin, Chase Martin, Loren Powers, Lonnie Powers, Logan Powers, and Leland Powers serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m., until 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 2, 2021, at Shipman’s Funeral Home. Yvonne is survived by her daughters, Connie Heston of Owasso, Oklahoma and Janice Martin and husband Darrell of Inola, Oklahoma; grandsons, Chad Martin and Heather Cooprider of Inola, Oklahoma and Chase Martin and wife Teresa of Inola, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Paisley Martin, Piper Martin, and Blake Martin; sisters, Sharon Townsend of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Joan Chapman and husband Dallas of Riverview, Florida; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Myrl Powers; parents, Henry and Helen Fritz; and grandson, Shawn Heston.
