Crista Downey

Crista Arcella Downey, 46, of Chelsea, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was born on July 30, 1970 in Tulsa, Oklahoma; the daughter of Clarence Warren and Debra (Scott) Blevins. Crista graduated in 1988 from Chelsea High School. She married Dean Downey, March 27, 1989 and together they have 5 children. Crista would take time out of her day to help anyone in need and make sure everyone around her had what they needed as well. Crista was a member of the House Of Prayer Church in Catoosa and enjoyed any church event. She worked for Adair Public Schools as a substitute teacher and cafeteria worker and was a wonderful cook. Crista was also a proud member of the Indian Women's Pocahontas Club and loved her Cherokee culture. She loved going to the creek, swimming, camping and loved singing. Her kids all agreed that if there was a garage sale spotted she always put the brakes on to see what kind of deal she could find. She was kind, loving, giving, adventurous, funny and a wonderful woman to not only her family, but the community as a whole. She leaves behind so many wonderful memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 19, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Claremore with Reverend Randy Byrd and Reverend Kevin Webster officiating. Burial will follow in the Round Springs Cemetery in Eucha, Oklahoma with Reverend Bill Parks officiating and Robert Bear White, Mark Morales, Keith Cherry Sr., Chris Burkholder, Josh White and Todd Thompson serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Steve Johnson, Carl Parson and Eugene Parks. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 18, 2017 in the Shipman's Chapel in Pryor. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been set up for the family through RCB bank in the memory of Crista. Crista is survived by her husband Dean Downey; sons, Samuel Downey of Pryor, Oklahoma and Sean Downey of Chelsea, Oklahoma; daughters, Sara Downey of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Saundra Downey of Chelsea, Oklahoma, Shay Downey of Chelsea, Oklahoma; brother, Quentin Blevins of Sioux City, Iowa; mother, Debra West of Claremore, Oklahoma. She is preceded in death by her father, Clarence Warren Blevins; paternal grandmother, Jenny Harry Blevins; maternal grandfather Fred Scott; paternal grandfather, Orville Warren Blevins.
